What is a website teardown?

A website teardown is a short, recorded video review of your site by a designer. Essence Design’s teardown covers design, brand consistency, mobile performance, and conversion – the specific reasons a visitor lands on your site and leaves without getting in touch. It takes about five minutes to watch and there’s nothing to prepare.

What will the teardown tell me?

  • Mobile speed. Whether your site loads fast enough on a phone. Most don’t, and most owners have never checked.
  • Clarity. Whether a stranger can tell what you do within four seconds of landing.
  • Brand consistency. Whether your site looks like you, or like a template someone once picked in a hurry.
  • Conversion. The single change most likely to turn a visitor into an enquiry.

What if I don’t have a website yet?

Even better. Tell me what you’re stuck on, whether that’s naming, a logo, or “I’ve been meaning to sort this for two years”, and I’ll record my thoughts on that instead. Essence Design does brand identity and naming as well as websites, so it’s the same conversation from a different angle.
