Pricing unit
The unit your price is for. Metric and imperial units are both available: for area, cm², m², in², ft² and yd²; for length, mm, cm, m, in, ft and yd; for weight, g, kg, oz and lb; for volume, ml, l, fl oz and gal. Imperial volumes are UK measures.
Pick the unit your customers think in. A UK flooring shop prices per m² even if the packs are described in square feet on the box.
Price is entered per
Unit means the price on the General tab is the price for one pricing unit, for example £24.99 per m². Step means the price on the General tab is the price for one step, for example £62.48 for a pack that covers 2.5 m². Choose Step if you think in packs: the plugin works out the price per unit for the shop page.
The label on the General tab changes to say which you chose, so you always know what the number means.
Customer enters
Only for products sold by area. Total amount shows one field: the customer types the area they need. Length and width shows two fields and multiplies them, which suits floors, walls and windows where customers know the size of the space rather than the area.
Customer types in
The unit the customer enters. Usually the same as the pricing unit, but a shop pricing per m² can let customers enter centimetres, and a shop pricing per kg can let customers enter grams. For length-and-width entry this is always a length unit.
Sold in steps of
The smallest amount you will sell, in the pricing unit. Customers’ amounts round up to the next step, never down.

Stock is counted in steps. A stock of 40 with 2.5 m² packs means 40 packs. The tab reminds you of this next to the fields.
Call a step a
Optional. A word for the step, such as pack, box, bag, roll or tin. It appears in the summary sentence, the basket and orders: “5 packs, 12.5 m², £312.40”. Leave it blank and the plugin shows the amount and, when the step is not a whole unit, the number of steps: “3.6 m (36 × 0.1 m)”.
The plural is made by adding an s. If your word does not pluralise that way, boxes for example, enter the plural in the Plural field next to it. That field is also where a shop in another language puts the right word. Developers can still change it with the esd_mp_step_plural filter.
Minimum and Maximum
Optional limits in the pricing unit, checked after rounding. If a customer enters less than the minimum, they see “Enter at least 1 m.” and cannot add the product until they change it. Because the check happens after rounding, 0.95 m in 0.1 m steps rounds up to 1 m and passes a 1 m minimum.
Waste allowance
Optional, as a percentage. Shows a tick box on the product page, “Add 10% for cuts and waste”, ticked by default. The extra is added to the amount before rounding to steps, and the summary says so: “12 m² plus 10% for waste is 13.2 m², which rounds up to 6 packs.” Customers can untick it. Also show in
Shows the equivalent amount in the other measurement system next to the customer’s amount: “12.5 m² (134.5 ft²)”. Useful for shops with customers on both sides of the Atlantic, or for older customers who still think in feet.
Weight per unit
Optional, in your shop’s weight unit per pricing unit. Used for weight-based shipping: the cart’s weight for the line is this number times the amount, so 7 kg per m² of turf gives 175 kg for 25 m². If you leave it blank, the weight on the Shipping tab is treated as the weight of one pricing unit.
Price per unit in shop lists
Shows the price per unit next to the price in the shop and on the product page: “£24.99 / m²”. For products priced per step it shows both: “£62.48 per pack (£24.99 / m²)”. Turn it off if your theme already shows a unit price or you prefer the plain price.
